The manuscript is devoted to medical care in patients with a new coronavirus infection. Nutritional status and methods of its correction in severe patients with COVID-19 are discussed. It is emphasized that severe patients with COVID-19 often have signs of nutritional deficiency that is associated with their age and comorbidities. Moreover, COVID-19 is often complicated by respiratory failure and need for mechanical ventilation. The time of nutritional support onset, needs for proteins and calories and delivery the required amount of nutrients and energy are analyzed. The author concludes that nutritional support requires continuity between hospital departments and outpatient clinics, as well as individualized approach to each patient.
